James Casebere
James Casebere has a very interesting take on photographing buildings and landscapes. He actually builds small models of buildings and landscapes he is planning to photograph. Then he lights them and adds water to some of them. I find his work interesting because they seem real at first glance but then, they start to have this somewhat unreal feeling to them. Compositionally, I feel his pictures are very strong - often he uses reflections in water to help balance the composition.
Alix Malka Underwater Photography
Here are some examples of Alix Malka underwater photography. He is a fashion photographer and captures colors incredibly. By taking his photographs underwater, it allows the fabric of the clothing to come to life. The water gives the fabric so much motion and a feeling of weightlessness.

Gregory Crewdson
Gregory Crewdson has a very unique way of using light. I can't help but be attracted to the way he uses it. The photos are from his Twilight series - no...not the vampire movie thing...these photos do feel like they could be stills from a kind of twisted movie though. They definitely get my mind thinking of a narrative to go along with them.
David LaChapelle
I love the use of color that David LaChapelle uses in his photographs. The saturation plus his unusual situations he puts his models in creates surreal photos. He's taken portraits of many famous people and has worked for Andy Warhol, The Rollingston, and Vogue. He has also directed some music videos that have this same saturation and oddness to them.

Sam Guss
Sam Guss is a girl I went to high school with. Throughout the years of seeing her stuff online, I am always impressed. A lot of her portraits are of women. She shoots in both black and white.
